Qualifying statement approval and denial letters posted to Web site
Effective immediately, the municipal finance section will be posting all approval and denial letters, associated with qualifying statements and reconsideration requests, to the Department of Treasury Web site. The letters will be in a PDF format and may be viewed, downloaded, and printed at your convenience.

Within 30 business days of receiving a qualifying statement or reconsideration request, the corresponding approval or denial letter will be electronically posted. Hard copies will no longer be mailed to the Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality. Enclosed with this memorandum you will find information that outlines the necessary steps to view qualifying statement and reconsideration approval and denial letters. Steps to Access Electronically Posted Approval and Denial Letters
 
To locate the electronically posted approval and denial letters, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Department’s Web site at http://michigan.gov/treasury.
2. Next, click on "Local Government."
3. Then select "Municipal Finance."
4. Select "Qualifying Statement Status" from the list.
5. Next, enter the appropriate fiscal year and select the county in which the municipality is situated.
6. Hit the "submit" button.
7. Scroll down until the desired municipality is located.
8. To access the most recent letter for that municipality, select the link in the column titled "Letter."
9. All letters will be posted within 30 business days of receipt of either the qualifying statement or reconsideration request. Check back periodically for updates.
